Of all French food posters, Rudd’s charming Escargots Ménetrel is among the most recognizable and beloved, having been widely reproduced in small format. Yet, the original poster, in its dramatic 45" x 62" size, has remained elusive and rare. We have acquired some of the very rare originals, each expertly backed on linen, which we can offer at the seductive price of $895 each. This is a below-market price for this rarity.

Léon Dupin was a young self-taught artist influenced heavily by the posters of the Belle Epoque. Though he dabbled in caricatures and constructivist styles, his best works were art deco—most famous is his depiction of a jovial sailor carrying two gigantic cookies advertising Rita Biscuits as the “dessert de choix!” Dupin uses a similar approach by enlivening this charming 23 1/2" x  31 1/2" ad for a vineyard treatment with the promise of “magnificent harvests!”

The undisputed master of this medium, Leonetto Cappiello, is the subject of an incredible new book, which collects 534 of his works, luxuriously printed with all the brilliant color of the originals.

Among Cappiello's most sought-after posters has been the famous 1922 Contratto. We have acquired several pristine copies of the original 1922 printing backed on linen in two sizes: the regular 36" x 55" along with a handful of the very rare two-sheet size, measuring 55" x 78". Prices from dealers start at $3200 and $4300, respectively, and we've seen even higher figures at auction.

Among all of the French posters of the early 1900’s, one of the most striking is Cognac Jacquet, with its peacock, in an incredible range of rich colors. Lavishly printed on heavy paper over five feet long (45" x 61"), this is a poster in exceptional condition and mounted on museum-quality, acid-free canvas.
