Until the 1970s, Antonio Vallana e Figlio was considered one of the great producers of Piemonte, and its wines collected with the same passion as the Barolos of Giacomo Conterno and Giuseppe Mascarello.
But over the next quarter century, Vallana became all but forgotten by American wine collectors, despite the fact that the family continued to make wine from the same vineyards and according to the same winemaking principles.
On May 9 at the Del Posto restaurant in New York, The Rare Wine Co. revisited the Vallana Legend, with an unprecedented tasting of Vallana wines from 2010 back to 1954, hosted by Marina and Francis Vallana, who today are restoring their family's proud winemaking legacy.
This short video features interviews with some of our special guests that evening, including Levi Dalton, Alice Feiring, and Ken Vastola, as well as Marina Vallana.
