“Immense power and persistency.”
Neal Martin
We've long believed that the idea format for Ch. d'Yquem is half bottles. It's the perfect size for a foie gras course for four, as well as the ideal way to elevate a great dessert to transcendent. Having a case of halves in your cellar is one of the greatest privileges a wine collector can have.
So, what could be better than mint original wood cases of the great 2013 Ch. d’Yquem in half bottle. In fact, "mint" doesn’t quite do justice to how perfect the condition is. These cases have never left the same perfect cellar in Bordeaux since release.
The 2013 is among the superstars of Yquem's past decade and a wine that is coming on strong as it develops. The wine has always been glorious, with soaring ratings from Day One. But as the wine has aged, the excitement has been building on CellarTracker, with 98, 99 and 100 points now commonplace. In short, the 2013 is simply a monumental Yquem that can only get better in coming years.
We are pleased to offer these 12-half bottle cases for $2650, which works out to be about $220 per half bottle. Halves are also available individually for $225.
Expected arrival spring 2021.

“Really intense nose … the flavours are pure and complex and compelling. Marmalade, lime juice, treacle tart and a savoury note too – mushroom, mint, menthol. Beautiful elegance on the palate – wonderful sweetness with precise acidity.”

“Bright aromas of sliced mangoes, papaya, botrytis, and lemon follow through to a full body. Medium sweet with a phenolic palate that gives the wine structure and beauty. Electric acidity and freshness combined with impressive energy and length. A strict selection was made. 40% of the production was destined to the grand vin.”

“The bouquet is quite honeyed and rich for Yquem at this early juncture, with subtle scents of peach skin, white flowers, and a puff of chalk and frangipane. The palate is viscous on the entry, all about the texture at first, coating the mouth with luscious botrytized fruit. There are touches of Seville orange marmalade, fresh apricot, a hint of spice and passion fruit. This is imbued with impressive depth and weight, perhaps an Yquem that is determined to make an impression after last year’s absence … immense power and persistency.”

“Lightly toasted marshmallow and macadamia nut aromas lead the way, followed by incredibly juicy mirabelle plum, green fig, and glazed pear and peach flavors. As big as this is, there are still plenty of honeysuckle, quinine and chamomile notes kicking the finish into yet another gear. This has purity and length to burn, which it will for a couple of generations.”
