1999 Jean-Paul Jamet Cote-Rotie (ex-domaine 2019)

At a time when the estate had a very small following, the 1999 became the first Jamet Côte Rôtie to gain a broad reputation, thanks to the highest score ever from Parker for a Jamet wine. And to this day, 1999 remains one of the domaine's iconic vintages.

Last year, Jamet released a few cases of the wine from their library and we bought all we could. Needless to say, you won't find this wine in better condition.

Jamet's 1999 Côte Rôtie has it all, thanks not only to a warm, sunny vintage, but to Jean-Paul Jamet's emerging skill in blending more than 20 lieux-dits. He created an opulent but elegantly balanced masterpiece that will continue to age with grace for another 20 years.

Critic's Notes

“... the finest I have ever tasted from Jamet ... It possesses a striking perfume of roasted meats, violets, graphite, blackberries, raspberries, and cherry liqueur. The wine is smoky, intense, full-bodied, muscular, concentrated, layered, and dominated by ripe fruit, with the tannin well-hidden by the wealth of extract, glycerin, and fruit.”
