This is a gorgeous wine on both the nose and palate, delivering a superb aromatic constellation of cherries, fig, molasses, smoked meats, cigar smoke, a touch of new leather, roses, gently savory elements that recall wild fennel and a lovely base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and energetic as a lightning bolt, with bottomless depth at the core, great focus and grip, seamless acidity and a very, very long, complex and exquisitely balanced finish. This too is stunning and I marvel at the d’Oliveira family that they could keep a wine this stunning hanging around in cask for so long without being tempted to put it up for sale! But, they have certainly waited until the wine is absolutely at a perfect point in its evolution to dazzle the senses! 2021-2100+.”
